Ignis H2 Energy Inc. established its Ignis Türkiye (IGNIS) branch as of Q4 2023 and had four geothermal exploration concessions granted in Eastern Anatolia. One of these, the Kargapazari license, is in the region referred as the Karlıova Triple Junction. The strike-slip and extensional regimes in the Karliova region are driven by the collision of the Arabian and Eurasian plates with the Anatolian block in Eastern Anatolia, creating a complex volcano-tectonic and orogenic environment at the Karliova Triple Junction (KTJ). The studies carried out in the Kargapazarı concession were mostly in the form of surface geology, stratigraphic and geological investigations and water and rock sampling (Picture 4).
The important fault zones of the concession, including The North Anatolian Fault Zone (NAFZ) and The East Anatolian Fault Zone (EAFZ) (continental transfer faults as San Andreas Fault) create a significant accommodation zone for geothermal fluid circulation and form geothermal reservoirs with favorable secondary permeability. The Kargapazarı Segment is the most significant fault segment with several surface manifestations presenting geothermal activity in license areas. (Picture 5).
Ignis plans to conduct Magnetotelluric (MT) surveys in the license area in late 2024 to generate a conceptual subsurface model.
