We are delighted to introduce Merve Uytun, whose geotechnical services and groundwater career began in 2014 at the State Hydraulic Works Regional Directorate (DSI). Over the years, Merve has demonstrated her dedication and expertise in various facets of geology engineering and geothermal energy.
During her tenure at DSI, Merve took on various responsibilities related to geotechnical services and shallow groundwater projects, showcasing her commitment to advancing the field. Additionally, she gained valuable insights into oil reservoir properties while interning at the Reservoir Geology Unit during her undergraduate education.
Merve’s proficiency extends to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), groundwater, and geothermal issues, making her a versatile asset to any team. She actively contributed to project management, press publications, congresses, and training activities organized by the Izmir Chamber of Geological Engineers and various non-governmental organizations, further solidifying her role as a knowledgeable and engaged professional in the industry.
Since 2021, Merve has been serving as the editor and country manager of “Jeotermal Haberler,” the Turkish language platform of ThinkGeoEnergy. This role reflects her commitment to sharing geothermal energy insights and fostering dialogue within the community.
Merve holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology Engineering from Dokuz Eylül University and is currently pursuing her M.Sc. degree at the Dokuz Eylül University Institute of Science, focusing on CO2 storage possibilities for Geothermal Power Plants in Western Anatolia. Her dedication to furthering our understanding of geothermal energy and its potential for a sustainable future is truly commendable.
