The World Geothermal Congress returned to North America for the first time, drawing the global geothermal community to Calgary from June 8 to 11. Hosted by the International Geothermal Association and Geothermal Canada, the triennial congress brought together more than 1,500 industry leaders, researchers, and developers across twelve scientific and industry tracks.
Ignis H2 Energy’s exploration work in Türkiye featured in two presentations.
Cannur Bozkurt presented “Geothermal Potential of the Triple Junction Area in Eastern Anatolia (Türkiye),” setting out the geological case for our positioning in East Anatolia. The triple junction is one of the most tectonically active settings in the region, and the work reflects the subsurface-first approach that guides where we choose to explore.
Professor Alper Baba, our long-term senior advisor, presented “Origin of Critical Raw Minerals (CRM) in a Metamorphosed Flysch Geothermal System: A Case Study from Seferihisar, Western Anatolia,” drawing on our exploratory work in the area. The study examines how geothermal systems can host critical raw minerals, a question with growing relevance as geothermal resources are evaluated for more than heat and power alone.
Both presentations reflect how we work: characterize the subsurface first, let the geology direct the portfolio, and build the technical case before committing capital.
