Ignis Energy Expands into New Mexico with the Grape Valley Geothermal Project

Ignis H2 Energy Inc. has been issued a federal geothermal lease by the Bureau of Land Management covering 1,040 acres in Doña Ana County, New Mexico. The lease is the basis of the Grape Valley Geothermal Project, the company’s first position in the state.

Ignis Energy acquired the acreage at the June 2026 federal geothermal lease sale. The lease took effect on September 1, 2026, with a primary term of ten years. New Mexico is the fifth US state in the Ignis Energy portfolio, alongside Nevada, Utah, California and Alaska.

Exploration is starting straight away. A magnetotelluric (MT) survey of 46 stations is scheduled to begin in late October and will give the project its first subsurface data.

Ignis Energy is an exploration-first developer. We secure ground early, then let subsurface data decide where capital goes next. New ground is how the portfolio grows.
